Vivian Gordon

Born in Manila, Philippines, eldest child of a Fukian Chinese merchant family, Vivian D Gordon realized early in life that she was different. She was trained to manage and continue the family business during adversarial times, but required more mental stimulus. As soon as the economic environment stabilized and her siblings were old enough to replace her, she left for Chicago, Illinois, USA to acquire a Masters in Computer Science in the 1980s. She became a software engineer, enjoying the constant challenges of developing operating systems, device drivers, embedded and networking systems. Her love for oil painting and art never left, but there was no time beyond an occasional workshop. After the birth of her first grandchild, she decided to retire from engineering to find the time to develop her art as legacy to leave her descendants.
