Adelheid Reinhardt, Ceramic Artist

During my whole life, I have been interested in Art. I have seen artwork of many millenniums all over the world. Always, I felt enriched by reexperiencing what artists might have experienced. I never had the idea that I could do something like that on my own. I guess my consciousness was that I am not an artist.

After many years of retirement, this changed suddenly. A dear friend gave me a block of clay saying: “Do something with it.” I asked for help and teaching, which she denied. “You can figure this out on your own.” I did. I discovered a whole new world. A sculptor was about to be born. First, I realized that the pieces never came out as I imagined. The sculptures have their own inner flow. Second, I had to go through all the experiences a young artist goes through like self-doubts, fear of being denied, I am not good enough, etc. I needed to create a new love and self-confidence for myself. In the next phase, I developed an enhanced imagination, and I started to pay more attention to things I saw. I found a new creativity and a great joy in building new forms, and I saw things that inspired me. These are just some examples of many new experiences enriching my life. Finally, I have become an explorer of how to express my inner world through my sculptures. Both, my inner world, and the outer world have become more expanded, richer, and brighter. I am grateful for my friend, who has opened this door for me.
